SpreadScan: Gauge Widening Monitoring System
Track gauge can widen under load due to poor tie and ballast conditions increasing the chance for a fall-in derailment.
The SpreadScan system permits precise and continuous measurements of gauge widening with every rolling stock movement.
The SpreadScan is held securely in place using a magnetic attachment and the onboard Li-ion battery system is capable of providing 40 hours of operation.
Device setup as well as data transfer and display can be performed via a cell phone, tablet or laptop over the built-in WiFi connection.
