The Importance of Rail Profiling
Whether you are monitoring in-service track, or have just finished adjusting a switch, or rewelding a frog, rail profiling and wear measurement is an important task.
While laser-based measurement approaches provide moderate accuracy combined with high productivity, hand-held contact-based systems provide the ultimate in resolution and accuracy.
The Rail Profile Contact Scanner (RPCS) is capable of measuring vignola rails, grooved rails, frogs and switches, and delivers measurements that are accurate to within +/-15µm, to a resolution of 5µm, with a repeatability of +/-10µm.
