Turnout Inspections
Turnouts are critical pieces of track infrastructure which can directly impact train speeds and increase the risk of derailment when deteriorated or improperly adjusted.
However turnout inspections are time consuming and typically rely upon a series of manual measurements using hand tools which limit the accuracy and repeatability of measurements.
High-precision turnout geometry measurements can be made down to the millimeter at key points using mechanical rollers and specialized software to ensure a consistent and repeatable process.
Measurements which can be provided include (but are not limited to):
- + Gauge
- + Cross-level
- + Twist
- + Surface
- + Alignment
- + Guard check gauge
- + Guard face gauge
- + Flangeway clearance
- + Rail wear
- + Frog cross sectional profile
- + And more…
Turnout measurements can be combined with simultaneous track imaging and GPS mapping to provide a robust and well-documented documented inspection.
